Message from the Principal

Welcome Back Monte Gardens Students and Families!

I hope that this email finds you well and that you enjoyed a rejuvenating, relaxing and fun summer. The 2022-2023 school year is almost upon us!

First off, I want to share that I am thrilled to become the principal of Monte Gardens Elementary! Let me begin by introducing myself to all of you. This upcoming year will be my 27th year as an educator. I have my multiple subject credential from the University of San Diego.  I have spent the majority of my career as a K-2 classroom teacher. I have taught in the Bronx, Oakland and Moraga. I loved my time in the classroom supporting student learning. I also have my Master’s in Counseling and Pupil Personnel Services Credential from St. Mary’s College. I was also a School Counselor for four years in TK-8 at multiple sites where I had the opportunity to focus on student and adult social emotional learning. I earned my administrative credential from CSU East Bay. In my experience as an administrator, I have learned that my focus is to be here to support the students,  families and staff at Monte Gardens. I am here for you! Please do not hesitate to ask how I can support you and your family this year.

In my “spare time” you can find me busy with my own family, paddle boarding and running.  I spent my summer watching my kids on their swim teams, white water rafting and enjoying a relaxing trip to Hawaii. I am hopeful you enjoyed your summer and were able to rejuvenate as well.

Now for the EXCITING news! We are ready to welcome our new & returning staff members to our Monte Gardens Team. Heidi Flores is joining our 3rd grade team and Cindy Aguilar and Brittinee Peebles are joining the 5th grade team. Sylvana Foncea de Chavez will be returning as Campus Supervisor. And last, but not least, our School Counselor Annie Hagglund is back at Monte Gardens.  This is going to be a wonderful school year!!

Our Teachers and Staff are ready and excited to begin the 2022-23 school year. First day of school  is Thursday, August 11th.  We are on a regular 8:10 am - 2:35 pm schedule for grades 1-5.  Kinder schedules are:  AM group: 8:10 am - 11:40am | PM group 9:40 am - 1:10 pm.  Remember that the first day of school is a day filled with many emotions for our families and students. We would like to invite all adults dropping off students on the first school morning to our “Welcome Back Coffee” once students head into the classrooms. This will be hosted by our Diablo Parent Club. Thank you DBPC!

I personally want to thank you in advance for your patience as I continue to learn about our wonderful Monte Gardens community. I am looking forward to meeting all of you! This year is going to be memorable!

Best wishes for a new school year!

Bess Inzeo

Monte Gardens Principal

Covid Information:

Covid testing is available all this week at the Mt. Diablo Unified School. Based on California guidelines, masks are strongly recommended, but not required at this time.

Universal Meals:

Breakfast (7:45 am - 8:05 am), Second Chance Breakfast (during brunch) and lunch are available for all students each day on campus.

Attendance:

Supporting your children to arrive at school on time and attend school daily is an essential part of your student’s success in school. However, if your student is sick, please contact the Monte Gardens Elementary School office to report the absence.

Friendly Reminders on Traffic Procedures:

Please keep in mind that safety is our top priority. The first few weeks require extra patience as we are all learning the traffic flow. When it comes to dropping off and picking up students, please make sure you are following the prescribed protocols as outlined in our Parent Handbook and provided in your Bonanza packet. This also means that you must obey all prescribed traffic laws at all times. Do your best to keep driveways clear for our neighbors to exit and enter their property without being blocked.

Please adhere to all stop signs and yield to pedestrians who are crossing the streets. Pedestrians when crossing the street please ONLY use the crosswalks.  Follow all directions from the campus noon supervisors and parent volunteers.  For those not wishing to be involved in the traffic jams which ensue, I would recommend legally parking somewhere further away from campus and walking to and from pickup and drop off.  There is no Monte Gardens family parking at the district office next door. With your help, we can ensure each and every student of ours gets to school and arrives home safely. Thank you for your support!
